Carrot Yield and Shape Altered by Seeding Rate and Raised Beds in Clay-loam Soil

چکیده
Carrots ( Daucus carota L. var sativus ) in the midwestern United States are generally raised commercially on sandy-loam or muck soils. Some smaller growers may not have luxury of an ideal soil type, so beds often recommended to improve taproot growth. To determine specific yield and shape responses carrots raised-bed culture heavy soil, three hybrids (‘Cupar’, ‘Envy’, ‘Naval’) were grown 2019 2020 flat clay-loam soil. In addition, two seeding rates (high low) incorporated into split-split plot design. ‘Cupar’ was larger less misshapen than other hybrids, but total marketable yields similar among all three. ‘Naval’ most cylindrical. High rate resulted more numerous roots no change weight. Raised caused a 10.6% increase weight by allowing classified as “short” (between 76 127 mm long, diameter >25 mm) grow lengths long. The average cylindricity increased decreased growing beds. Soil penetration resistance at 7.6 cm correlated with many measured responses.

Effect of tillage treatments on soil thermal conductivity for some Jordanian clay loam and loam soils
Soil thermal conductivity determines how a soil warms or cools with exchange of energy by conduction, convection, and radiation. The ability to monitor soil thermal conductivity is an important tool in managing the soil temperature regime to affect seed germination and crop growth. In this study, the temperature-by-time data was obtained using a single probe device to determine the soil thermal...

Interaction of Sugarcane Bagasse Biochars and Salinity on Availability and Fraction of Cadmium in a Clay Loam Calcareous Soil
Pollution of the environment by heavy metals, especially soil pollution with cadmium (Cd), is one of the most important environmental problems. Also, salinization of soils due to a decrease in irrigation water quality reduces plants growth. To investigate the effect of sugarcane bagasse biochars and salinity on Cd available and Cd fractions in a contaminated soil (15 mg kg-1 Cd), an experimenta...
